Backup Manager - Mac OS X Installation Guide 2.3
  1. Log in as an admin user. To confirm, go to "System Preference -> Accounts -> Security". The option "Allow user to administer this computer" should be enabled. If the option is not enabled, please enable the option and reboot the system.

  2. Download the appropriate version of Backup Manager for your Mac and move the zip file to the directory from where you want to run the Backup Manager installation.

Note: The steps given below should be done in the Finder window - Mac OSX file explorer window.

  1. Unzip the downloaded installation zip by double-clicking the zip file.

  2. Go to the unzipped folder, and you will find two files:

    • InstallBackup_Manager - Installer file

    • Backup_Manager.bin - Installation binary file

Double-click the 'InstallBackup_Manager' file in the Finder window.

  3. Provide the login password. Enter the currently logged in user's password and proceed with installation. This should complete the installation.

Note: If you get a prompt stating "entered password is incorrect or you don’t have the admin rights", please verify whether the password you have entered is the password of the user you are currently logged in as.

Backup Manager has two types of installation

Typical Installation: Backup Manager will be installed with its default configurations except Backup Manager ID and the Customer Name.

Custom Installation: User will be prompted to specify different settings, like webconsole username and password, webconsole ports, etc. during the installation. If "Run Later" option has been selected at the end of custom installation, follow the steps below to run Backup Manager:

  1. Open the terminal console and switch to root user by executing the command "sudo –s". If it prompts for a password, enter the currently logged in user password [the password given at the start of Backup Manager installation].

  2. Go to the "<Backup_Manager_Installed_Dir>/Full Circle Data Systems Corporation/Backup Manager" directory and execute the following command to start Backup Manager: "- sh startStoreGrid.sh". The <Backup_Manager_Installed_Dir> will be "/Applications" directory by default.

This step is not required if the option "Run now" has been selected during "Custom" installation, or if you have opted for "Typical" installation.

Note: To access Backup Manager setup after installation, you should be a root user. To do this, open the terminal console and switch to root user by executing the command "sudo –s". If it prompts for a password, enter the currently logged in user password [the password given at the start of Backup Manager installation].
